What an amazing week and a half it has been in Spain! I discovered a beautiful country, a great school and met some wonderful people.

At school, I sat in on several classes. One of the classes that got my attention was an English class with the grade 1 students. While these students are normally combined with the grade 2s, they do get some classes on their own. This is a group of 3 students! The 3 boys sat down with Lidia and worked on English phonics. It is truly amazing what one can cover with such a small group.

At the end of the day, all the classes met in the library and presented me with this great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTq0QFEYobE ! Thank you to the students and staff members for taking the time to do this. I am so very thankful for having been a part of your school and community. I felt a part of your school from the minute I walked in and I am so grateful to you for having made me feel so welcome.

After a great last day at the school, we drove to Salamanca. It is a city with a population of about 230,000 people. It is known as one of Spain’s most important university cities as there are approximately 30,000 university students in the city. As the students began their vacation yesterday, there was definitely a great vibe in the city. Upon our arrival, we explored the beautiful sights in the area. We visited ‘’La Playa Mayor’’ which is a big gathering area in the centre of the city. Along the way there, hundredths of shops, pubs and restaurants can be found.

Salamanca also has lots of ancient cathedrals and buildings. Some beautiful sights wherever you look.

My journey in Spain ends today. What a great journey it was! We are off to Lisbon, Portugal this morning for the final few days of my trip.

Chow for now!
